
HCAHPS is a comprehensive national project designed to improve the quality of hospital care for all patients. It utilizes patient-generated data, obtained with a standardized survey and data collection process, to illustrate valid comparisons across hospitals. This information is designed to help consumers make more informed choices about their hospital care choices, and to help hospitals improve the quality of care they provide.

HCAHPS Public Reporting Periods
A document showing the calendar quarters of HCAHPS results that will be publicly reported on the Hospital Compare Web site, through March 2010, can be obtained by following the link below. This document also contains information about which hospitals may suppress the public reporting of their HCAHPS results.
